Questions

Hide. Fold. Hit. Everything else you might want to know.

What is Foldmate?

Foldmate is a free game about folding a sheet of paper. You put ink drops on your half of the sheet, fold it, and every drop lands mirrored across the crease on the other half. There are two ways to play: the mirror, where you see their outlines and drop where they will land (the daily sheet and free play), and the battle, where the targets are hidden and you find them fold by fold (the computer and friends).

What is the daily sheet?

Five new sheets every day, the same for everyone, from easy to hard. Each one is different: squared, dotted, ruled or blank paper, square or long, folded down the middle, off the middle, on a slant, at any angle or twice. Put a drop for every point of their outlines, fold once, and get a score in percent: 100 dead on, less the further off. You can share your result as a picture or text. A new daily sheet starts at midnight, your local time.

What is free play?

The same mirror game with a new sheet every time, for as long as you like, at four levels from easy (squared paper folded down the middle) to master (blank paper folded at any angle, or twice).

How do I score in a battle?

A hit scores 50 to 100 points, more the closer it lands to the middle of the square. A whole target found is worth 50 more. If you find everything early, every drop you didn't need is worth 25, and finishing a round without the hint adds 30.

Isn't the battle just luck?

No. Every miss tells you how close it was: hot when a target touches the square, warm when one is two squares away, cold when nothing is near. You get three folds a round, so you can close in. The hard part is the mirror: creases can be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, or the sheet can be folded twice. Against the computer you see its targets for a moment and have to remember them. Once a round you can also ask for a hint, which shows one square of a target.

Who can I battle?

The computer, with four opponents from Paper Plane to Dragon; beating one unlocks the next. And your friends, 1 on 1.

How do I play my friends?

In Play friends, sign in with Google, then send your invite link or your six-letter code, or challenge someone by link. A match is turn by turn: you each hide your targets and fold the other's sheet whenever you have a moment. First to win two rounds wins. Scores are worked out on our server and neither of you can see the other's targets before the round is over.

Is Foldmate free?

Yes. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.

Can I install Foldmate or play offline?

Yes. On a computer, choose Install in the address bar of Edge or Chrome, or the Install Foldmate button on the home screen, and Foldmate opens in its own window. On a phone, choose Add to Home screen in Chrome, or Share and then Add to Home Screen in Safari. After the first visit, the daily sheet, free play and the computer work without internet; playing friends needs a connection.

Which languages does Foldmate speak?

English and Polski. It picks your browser's language and you can change it in the settings, together with a light or dark theme, sound and vibration.

What does Foldmate keep about me?

Solo games and the daily sheet stay on your device. Playing friends needs a Google sign-in; then we keep your name, a friend code, your friends and your matches, and you can delete it all from the game. The privacy page explains the details. Read the privacy page.
